Military Appreciation Weekend: Supporting Veteran Wellness

Military Appreciation Weekend: Supporting Veteran Wellness

Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of attending the Annual Military Appreciation Weekend hosted in South Carolina by the team at Core Medical.

One conversation in particular stood out. A young father shared that he was struggling with difficult decisions involving his stepdaughter — trying to navigate responsibility, discipline, and love in a way that honored both the child and her biological father.

I told him how much respect I had for the way he was approaching it. Making decisions rooted in love and long-term well-being isn’t always the easiest path, but it’s the right one. Speaking from my own experience raising a stepson, I know how important it is to lead with consistency, humility, and care.

Moments like that are what make this weekend meaningful.

The event brings together veterans, first responders, community leaders, and supporters for a weekend focused on connection, restoration, and service. A significant focus is on raising funds to provide bloodwork, telehealth services, and hormone replacement therapy to veterans and first responders who may not otherwise have access to those resources.

Beyond the programming and guest speakers, what stands out most is the reminder that leadership is about showing up — for your community, for your brothers and sisters in service, and for those navigating life after uniform.

There are many people and organizations who genuinely want to support veterans and first responders. The challenge often isn’t willingness — it’s connection. Bridging the gap between resources and the individuals who need them most is where real impact happens.

At Team Rucked Up, we believe that strength is built through discipline, service, and community. Supporting initiatives that invest directly into the well-being of veterans and first responders aligns with that belief — and it’s an honor to stand alongside those doing the work.
